Please check for understanding by asking them questions on what they have read. Check for fluency and unknown words. For the month of December we are stopping spellings and reading so that children have time to practise reading and learning their lines.
- Please listen to your child read their line every evening.
- Encourage them to slow down when reading and to read with lots of expression.
- Is is important that they also know who is reading before and after them so that they are ready to come in.
Learn the song lyrics off by heart and practise singing them and doing the actions.
Children are allowed complete the next week in Master Your Maths if they want if not this will be completed in school. If you feel that your child needs extra work encourage them to pick a novel or short story to read.

Science Week
Hi Everyone,
The children are taking part in STEM week this week. There are lots of activities taking place around the school.
On Monday they got to work with Dan Malone who came in and did some experiments with them. Today Sarah Murphy came in and introduced them to a new coding program on the iPads. Tomorrow they will take part in a Maths trail working together with 2nd class and on Thursday they will get to take part in four hands on experiments.
Friday is dress up as a crazy scientist day. We are encouraging everyone to take part.
We can't wait to see all the crazy scientists on Friday!
Thanks,
Brian and Rachel
